Hines is known for his criticism of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), particularly its restrictive stance on the blockchain sector. He advocates for a more liberal regulatory framework. In 2022, he ran unsuccessfully for Congress. He holds degrees from Yale University and Wake Forest University School of Law, and has athletic experience playing for both North Carolina State and Yale football teams.
