The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (WOŚP – Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy) stands as Poland's largest non-governmental charity organization. Founded in 1993 by journalist and activist Jerzy Owsiak, what began as a single fundraiser for pediatric cardiac surgery at a children's hospital in Warsaw has blossomed into a beloved annual tradition.
Each January, WOŚP mobilizes approximately 120,000 volunteers across Poland and worldwide, organizing its Grand Finale through concerts, auctions, street collections, and community events. Over three decades, the organization has raised nearly 2.3 billion PLN and equipped Polish hospitals with more than 74,500 medical devices.
Today, WOŚP remains one of Poland's most trusted public organizations, embodying the power of collective compassion in healthcare.
